/ Flekkefjord

Welcome to Flekkefjord - The picturesque coastal town of Flekkefjord is the westernmost municipality in Agder county. The city is located approximately midway between the cities of Kristiansand and Stavanger.

Back in the 1500's and 1600’s, Flekkefjord had strong trade relations with the Netherlands and a lot of Dutch people moved here. That’s why an area of the city center is called Hollenderbyen, or The Dutch Quarter in English. Today’s population is estimated to be 9.000 inhabitants. There is a hospital in the city.

Planning your move

Searching for your new home

The best place to look for your new home is through Finn.no.
You may change the filters to extend your area of search, type of home, range of monthly rent, pet acceptance and so on. Unfortunately, the page is in Norwegian, but a tip is to paste the link into Google Translate from Norwegian to English, the text on the English link will make more sense to you.

To get an idea of where you want to live, within the city center, by the sea or at the countryside you should look into the different residential areas. Although it’s in Norwegian, here is an overview of the residential areas.

Need for a nursery or school?

Nurseries in Flekkefjord are both private and municipal-owned. All children will be assigned a place at a nursery after submission of an application. However, sometimes you will have to wait for a short period of time.

If you are in a need for a nursery, you can read more about it, and apply here.
The main closing date for applications is 1st March each year. If you have recently moved to Flekkefjord, we recommend you to contact the nursery of your choice.
